Telling the story of our street is crucial. It serves as a means of preserving and celebrating the unique identity of the community.
Seven Hills skatepark, downtown Amman
Seven Hills is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive environment for young people in Jordan to learn, grow, and become positive contributors to their community.
Seven Hills uses skateboarding and creative programs to bring together people from different backgrounds in Jordan, while also offering an opportunity for youth to learn new skills and develop their personal and social identities.
In partnership with the Moleskine Foundation, I curated the Notebook Collection on behalf of Seven Hills. The Notebook serves as an archive for Prince Mohammed Street, a street in downtown Amman where the organization's story began with the establishment of the first skatepark in Amman back in 2014.
Sharing this story helps to share and celebrate the identity of our community. We asked those who know it best - artists, designers, team members, children, youth, residents, and longtime staff - to share their perspectives and express how they engage with it on a daily basis.
The notebook circulated from hand to hand from March to July 2024, with contributors expressing a variety of emotions, interactions, and representations, from detailed snippets to broader scenes.
We are very happy that we were able to complete this project and express what Prince Mohammed Street means to us as a community. Each participant was asked to take a double page and use the notebook in any direction they wished.
